Unlike a traditional cell phone rental, the phone operates a pre-paid or "pay-as-you-go" basis; this means that there is no bill at the end of your trip! You will receive your phone and phone number prior to your departure so that you are ready to talk as soon as you arrive in Mexico.

The SIM comes with an initial amount of talk-time credit. When the credit runs low, you simply purchase a recharge voucher (called "Fichas Amigo") at Oxxo convenience stores or anywhere convenience items are sold. Choose a denomination that meets your needs from 100 to 500 Pesos. You are in complete control of your spending!

Coverage is quite good in most regions, including tourist areas such as Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos, Mazatlan, Acapulco, Guadalajara, Mexico City and others. Your coverage should be comparable if not better than what you would expect in major US cities.
