About Cozumel

Statistics show that 9 out of 10 people who visit Mexico return and this is especially true of Cozumel. Many people have first visited the island while on a cruise of the Caribbean, others have come because of the superb scuba and snorkeling. Still others enjoy the deep sea fishing, the fly fishing, kite boarding, the jungle tours and Maya Ruins. As Cozumel grows, many more activities are becoming available; we now have a state of the art movie theater, beautiful new bowling alley, Nicklaus designed golf course, a tequila factory with daily tours, and the list is growing.

Mexico is definitely a high value destination for planners, investors, families and retirees. The hard-to-find combination of affordability, culture, history and the many attractions are not to be found anywhere as beautiful as Cozumel and as close to the US and Canada. The white sandy beaches of the island along with its coral reefs make it rank among the 5 top diving destinations of the world. Traveling to Cozumel is easy. We have an international airport, with flights daily to many destinations. It is also just two hours to the Cancun airport by ferry and taxi, or a quick 20 minute flight. You can use the many shuttles provided and the Ferry ride from the mainland to Cozumel is just 45 minutes (it originates in Playa del Carmen).

San Miguel is Cozumel’s main town and it offers food and drink to suit all tastes. The cuisine ranges from a perfect blend of Mexican and Caribbean tastes, to more traditional international dishes including pizza and sushi. Fresh seafood dishes are a specialty and no visit is complete without trying the famous local clawless lobster.

At night you can see the fiery sun set over the glistening Caribbean Sea before heading to one of the island’s countless bars or night clubs. During the day you may want to find some gifts in shops offering Mexican handcrafts, hammocks, ceramics, leather, straw hats, souvenirs and jewelry. San Miguel also has a colorful daily market which is a pleasant place to browse for more unusual presents.

From Cozumel it is also possible to make many excursions. You can snorkel, take a jeep ride or visit ruins on the island itself. Or make a day trip to the mainland where you can visit famous Mayan ruins at Tulum, Coba or Chichen Itza. The more adventurous may want to go deep sea fishing or swim with dolphins.

And if the island’s reefs don’t offer enough for hardened scuba divers why not try diving in one of Yucatan’s many fresh water cenotes instead?
