In a beautiful enormous house, located in the cultural hearth of colonial Guanajuato, the Mesón de los Poetas hotel opened its doors October 1st 1999. Founded by two renowned poets of the city, the Mesón has a distinctive style and design. Unique for its architecture, decoration and topografic characteristics, Mexican and foreign visitors enjoy the hotel . Here you will find a little Guanajuato, enclaved in Guanajuato. Its ambience invites to reflexion and relaxation. You will surely find inspiration as you'll be surrounded by some of the most exquisite poets: each of the 30 hotel rooms is uniquely decorated and is identified with the name of a poet. You'll find the Walt Wittman suite, the Octavio Paz and the Pablo Neruda among many others. Each room pays a tribute to its poet with a hand made portrait and some verses written on a wall. All the rooms also have original paintings. Most of the rooms have an equipped kitchen for longer stays and all of them have television, phone and a little desk, sofa and table. Its patio is considered one of the most beautiful in Guanajuato. Under the calm and shade of the biggest ficus tree in town, you'll find the perfect spot for reading, chatting or enjoying one of the artistic events that regularly take place here. Hot coffee and tea is served all day long. To encourage Guanajuato talent, the Alfonsina Stormi exposition room always displays local artists paintings and sculptures.
